Child abuse and neglect are serious problems in our country. This is a reality most of us would rather not think about and yet five million children are affected every year. First Star needs your help to protect these kids and to ensure that each and every one of them has a safe and permanent home.

We hope you’ll join us June 7th, 2008 for the Fifth Annual First Star Celebration for Children’s Rights. That evening celebrities join business leaders of every stripe in celebrating childhood and raising funds for First Star’s programs to help abused and neglected children across America.

In previous years the Celebration honored Keely Shaye Smith and Pierce Brosnan, Kathleen Kennedy, Sir Ben Kingsley, the producers and cast of Law & Order: SVU and many others for their leadership roles in making the world a better place for children. We are working hard on our 2008 roster.

First Star’s mission is to serve as a catalyst for meaningful reform of the child welfare system through communication, professional education and legislation. Our non-partisan approach fosters collaborative action among organizations, advocates, practitioners and policymakers working to benefit children. First Star is a national 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to improving the lives of America’s abused and neglected children.

We hope you’ll decide to join us and “Come be a Kid Again!” Toss that tie back in the closet and bring your appetite for great food, music and fun. We’ll have carnival games, food from LA’s top resturants and magical entertainment.
