Please call or send an email message to your Representatives now. Urge them to sign the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act "Dear Colleague" letters.
Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) has circulated a letter to all members of the House of Representatives asking them to support an increase in Fiscal Year 2009 funding for the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) programs at the fully authorized levels: $84 million for the basic state grants; $80 million for the community-based prevention grants; and $37 million for discretionary and research grants.
Please contact the Representatives from your state and urge them to join in signing this “Dear Colleague” letter addressed to the Appropriations Committee leadership regarding the importance of increased funds for the prevention and treatment of child abuse.
Please circulate this message and the Dear Colleague letter from Rep. Johnson to your networks so that we can ensure a good showing of support from Members of the House signing the letter.
