We are touched and honored that our Academy at UCLA has been named UCLA Community Program of the Year!

“UCLA Community Program of the Year: First Star UCLA Bruin Guardian Scholars Summer Academy has been named the Catalyst Award for 2013. The Catalyst Award honors newer programs with innovative approaches and proven/measurable results while achieving excellence through diversity. Recipients of this award are also recognized for their direct impact on a population or community. The Academy demonstrates commitment to service and reaches a very broad and diverse populace. It is for this reason that the selection committee made up of Community & Local Government Relations, Student Affairs, GSEIS, Health Sciences, and Luskin designated First Star UCLA Bruin Guardian Scholars Summer Academy as the UCLA Community Program of the Year Catalyst Award recipient.

The award will be presented on October 17, 2013 during our Annual UCLA Day with Local Government Reception at City Hall. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m.; the program starts at 6:15p.m. in the City Council Chambers.”
