The bill, filed by Rep. Mark Danish, D-Tampa, comes after a spate of deaths during the past year of children who had come to the attention previously of the Department of Children and Families.

The bill would require information to be posted on the department’s website.

As an example, if a child died, the department would have to release information about the injuries and any previous investigations about the treatment of the child.

“It is the intent of the Legislature to provide prompt disclosure of the basic facts of all fatalities and near fatalities of children from birth through the age of 18 which occur in this state as the result of child abuse or neglect,” the bill says.
